Replace hacky systemctl/service wrapper (in common) to workaround systemd refusing to start services in chroot #1936
Description
Whilst it serves the purpose, we should replace the current hacky systemctl/service wrapper (in common) that works around systemd refusing to start services in chroot.
Possible options:
- do the build in a container - e.g. docker/podman, or perhaps even better, use
systemdnspwan? - https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Systemd-nspawn - do systemd chroot workaround at build time (and undo later)- http://0pointer.de/blog/projects/changing-roots. That post is quite old now and there may be other requirements now? - E.g. see https://unix.stackexchange.com/a/457704.
TBH honest I doubt it, but perhaps there are other options?
