Feature Request: Customizable Consistent Ping to User-Selected Websites Separate from the main speedtest

Description

I would like to propose a new feature that allows users to perform a consistent ping (every 1~5 min 🤷‍♂️)  to websites of their choice, separate from the main speedtest functionality with their own graph. The tool should provide feedback on the ping results for each specified target, including average latency, packet loss, and a timestamp. I also think it should have the ability to notify the user if his internet is down (as far as that's possible if his internet is indeed down...) and if his latency is abnormally high.

Something that was absolutely in my backlog and glad to see others wanting the solution. Envisioning something in the UI along with scheduled pings.

It will be difficult having something better than SmokePing, but it would be wonderful having it integrated.

I'll have to check out SmokePing, definitely don't want to reinvent the wheel

Pretty simple to setup. Configuration is all files/dir based. But you will reinvent the wheel. :)

SmokePing is great and it wouldnt make sense to integrate it into this given it has a specific purpose.
I use Uptime Kuma for monitoring which can also do latency - https://github.com/louislam/uptime-kuma - not as scientific as SmokePing but achieves the same result.

Uptime Kuma is great, but for ICMP diagnostics, it's not even comparable to SmokePing. It doesn't provide all that data.

Ping in Uptime Kuma is just to check if something's up...that's the use case. SmokePing's use case is different.

I have one instance of UK in my homelab, monitoring all services etc. from the LAN side, and I also have an instance on the cloud (fly.io free instance) that monitors my main services (the router's public interface, Home Assistant, Traefik, etc.) externally. Love it.

Yes I did mention that - I actually use both as well. UK for uptime monitoring and SmokePing for latency monitoring - all different use cases.

I'm more than likely going to do something like the Unifi dashboard where ping is displayed in the dashboard but not recorded

Hmm I really think you should be able to record it as it would be easier to detect random abnormalities you just wouldn't see if you run the Speedtest hourly. Even Unifi records your latency and displays a graph if you click on internet health. Likewise they also notify when your latency is high.

Is there an option to include the latency while downloading or uploading. I think this can be useful to discover and monitor things like bufferbloat.

The data is in the json so I guess it would be possible. I might give it a try to make it a PR as I would like it myself as well. But im not a developer, so it might not be the best code ;)
