Configure admin email/password through environment variables?

Currently on initial startup, you need to log in with the default admin email/password, then update values.

Configure the admin email/password/username through environment variables, so there is no need to use the UI.

Ok, I may take this one. But what's the best way to do this?
Currently admin user is configured through the migration (one of the first tho). I see two ways:

1. Change current initial migration to retrieve env variables if they present.
2. Add another one that will change existing.

Both are not ideal, but have their own pros and cons.

Also I would like to have a feature to login using username(+email)/pass rather then just email/pass, because it's kinda annoying to use email each time.

What do you think?

I would say this would be the easiest way to implement this, but at the same time I don't understand why someone can't login and just change your password and email afterwards. 🤷‍♂️

Super low priority item IMO.

I would say this is off the table, if we did username and/or email it would fundamentally change the auth process and introduce complexities.

Fair point regarding the complexity; it might be postponed to a later time.

As for the credentials, I personally found it tricky to realize that I should look for them in the documentation (at the very least, we could add this information to Docker Hub or the README)

That all being said, I'd be happy to merge a PR if you want to add the config to the initial user migration. This way new installs can benefit from the process.

This should be more clear in the new install docs. When that is live, I will update the readme as well to point that one.

I Do agree with just quickly login and change it. Im afraid that having env variables for the initial setup will triggers the creations of issues for users that change for example their password in the environment variables afterwards and expects that it will work 🤷‍♂️. Somehow we have to be very clear that these variables only work during the initial setup.

Another idea might be to have a sign up that the initial setup to create the account. Kind of like this https://filamentexamples.com/tutorial/register-wizard-steps but then only at the initial start.
